A compelling drama about a silent, violent teenagerand the psychologist who may be the only person who can get trought to him.

Psychologist Jennifer Hubbel (Marsha Mason) is asked to take charge of a very special case at the Garson Institute, Kevin Richter (Kiefer Sutherland) has already been at the Institute for four years without a breaktrough.

Kevin suffers from elective mutism and no-one has ever heard him utter a word. Besides not talking, he will not wash as he fears water, in fact, he seems to be frightened of everyone and everything.......Jennifer is his last hope.

In this film the play-acting qualities of the yet very young Kiefer Sutherland are already immense.
